Who am I?

 Fighting for the future

one keystroke at a time

My name is Iain McLean, and I’m an HND student at City of Glasgow College, working towards my dream of becoming a journalist.

Getting here hasn’t been easy. I had a difficult childhood, and later spent around ten years living with agoraphobia while caring for my ill mother. For much of my early adult life, I was largely cut off from the world around me.

During those years, I spent a lot of time sitting alone in a house I rarely left, or in hospital waiting rooms while my mother underwent surgery, and on the wards while she recovered. I always felt like there was something more out there for me, but it seemed just out of reach. I wasn’t happy with where my life was heading and knew I wanted something more.

Eventually, I overcame those barriers and got back out into the world. I spent the next ten years working in retail, but when I was made redundant in 2025, it gave me the push I needed to finally pursue further education and start working towards a career in journalism.

Since then, I have established a large portfolio of articles which cover everything from politics and the environment to film and video games. Those articles are archived on this website, and I plan to build on that work by publishing more news, reviews, and commentary as I work toward my goal of becoming a journalist.
